Problems & Solutions
Problems
By default, Magento 2 does not support absolute price on customization options. Instead, it supports the Fixed, and Percent prices with the following cart calculation
When Fixed price is used: "Cart Subtotal = (base price + fixed price) x qty"
Example:
- Base product price = $32
- Fixed price = $30
- Qty = 2
- Cart Subtotal = $124 --> which is ($32 + $30) x 2
When Percent price is used: "Cart Subtotal = (base price + percent price) x qty"
Example:
- Base product price = $32
- Percent price = $3.20
- Qty = 2
- Cart Subtotal = $70.40 --> which is ($32 + $3.20) x 2
As a result, is not easy for store owners to offer absolute prices to their shoppers.
Solutions
Magento 2 Custom Option Absolute Price Extension overcomes this limitation by adding the Absolute price type under customization options. It allows store owners to offer absolute prices under custom options to their shoppers/buyers.
The absolute price replaces the initial base product price with the absolute price.
The calculation of the absolute price on cart page is done as follows:
When Absolute price is used: "Cart Subtotal = (absolute price) x qty"
Example:
- Base product price = $32
- Absolute price = $15
- Qty = 2
- Cart Subtotal = $30.00 --> which is $15 x 2
The absolute price calculation on the cart is different than the default Magento 2 Fixed and Percent price calculations
